Bulk Amazon updates not working

Updating music albums individually from Amazon seems to work okay (about a
75% success rate in my collection), but updating multiple albums at once has
about a 2-5% success rate.  No errors are ever given, the data just doesn't
change after the update progress finishes for each entry.  If updated
individually it usually takes at least 5 seconds, where in a bulk update it
doesn't wait that long, no more than a couple seconds per album - could this
be a timeout issue?

Bulk updates would be nice, as updating 300 albums manually would take a
loooooooong time.  :)  Basically I'm just taking the cover images. 
Everything else I obtained from cddb and audio file import - I populated a
300-album collection in less than 25 minutes, which is pretty cool.

I'm using 1.2.5 with a small patch from the 1.2.x branch fixing an update
crash - I hope that's not causing problems.

PS:  I would love to write (or find) some music import scripts for other
sources such as musicbrainz, freedb, discogs, etc.
