Simple patch file is enough for me, there is no need to make extra packages.

Maybe You could add some extra debugging messages in places where the image 
deletion could take place ? But it could be another problem: somehow not all 
images are compressed from temporary file to .tc file during SAVE procedure.

Please try do check it in Your spare time and dont bother to ask me for any 
information You need.
