I think I got all that to work now. Titles should take the articles into 
account when sorting, even if the "format titles" option is turned off. I 
think that's an easy way to get the functionality without adding another 
option. So in your case, turn off the auto-format option, but make sure the 
article list includes l'. The non-intuitive part is that you have to turn 
the option on to edit the article list, I guess. Maybe I'll remove the code 
that disables the edit box.

The extra calculation doesn't seem to slow things down too much.

If you can test the SVN code, that'd be great! Trunk or 1.2.x branch...
