If you have "Include images in data file" unchecked, then yes.

On save, yes.

That may be the issue, something went wrong with the transfer. I'll start 
poking around. The dialog pops up the first time that you go over 200 
images, to ask if you want to store them in the directory rather than the 
file itself.
