I'm sorry, I really wish I could help you. I'm just not aware of anything 
that Tellico does or does not do with regard to paths that would be 
affecting things as you're trying. 

kcalc might be rather simple when it comes to desktop KDE apps, too. 
Something more like k3b, konqueror, amarok, or juk might be a better 
comparison.
