Problem sorting the filter view

It is the icon view that I am trying to sort and failing to do so.
For instance, if I have selected the column view by genre, I can have
all of my mystery books show up in the icon view.  By default they
show up sorted by title.  When I right click and try to sort by author
instead, nothing happens.  The icons continue to show up sorted by
title.
