[xenpreview-dev] Yast "Virtual Machine Installation" doesn't work?

Just to confirm that I've had a very similar experience.

1)On SuSE 10, out of the box, the Xen Linux does not boot.
Upgrading with YOU fixes that first problem.

2) The YAST Xen installation creates a barebones
image. On running it up - it did not work at first.
So I copied over the latest xen kernel to that
image in /var/lib/xen/images/domain1. The
Virtual Machine (VM) started. it wants to install from
andNFS images of SuSE10 - but the dhcp does
not find the local network.

I got a Virtual machine running as follows:
The standard Yast VM creates an empty disk in a file at
/var/lib/xen/images/domain1/hda. So I made a reiser file system
inside that file, and then mounted it into the file system.
I used YaST to install from SuSE10 into that directory.
Edited the fstab, removed the getty type entries in inittab,
umounted /var/lib/xen/images/domain/had , and then exectuted
xm create /etc/xen/domain1 -c - It worked.

Interestingly, although I had set for DHCP to be applied in /etc/xen/domain1,
the network does not start - this is probably why the original YaST VM failed
to allow the installation from NFS. In the working VM, I can manually
set ifconfig to an IP address, add a default route, set the DNS primary
names server in /etc/resolv.conf - and I have a fully functioning machine.
I thrashed that for two days with tasks over the weekend, and it works fine.

So I would say, the issue of making the YaST install of a VM work, revolves
around ensuring that the network comes up with the standard supplied
initrd - so that the rest of the install process can be completed.
