Jason,
Thanks for your response.

First, I'd like to clarify that we only have the installation problem
when we attempt to install into a virtual machine with more than one
processor.

Here are the answers to your questions:

1. Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition
2. xen_extra .4_13138-0.47 and we also tried .4_13138-0.40
3. SLES10 SP1
4. x86_64 for both
5. The install dies formatting the windows partition. We noticed it
never goes to the next step which is to copy the windows files to the
new partition. It just attempts to restart and doesn't find NTLDR,
since it was never copied to the partition. The serial console shows:
(XEN) ff, This opcode isn't handled yet!
(XEN) handle_mmio: failed to decode instruction
(XEN) mmio opcode: gpa 0xfee00080, len 6: ff 35 80 00 fe ff
6. virt-manager and also using xm create
7. we use the default disk using virt-manager and file-backed using xm
create

Please note that we are able to successfully install using xen-unstable
(c/s 15980). We then proceeded to install SP2 on the vm and then we
copied the image to the SLES10 SP1 Xen server. Now we have problems
starting that virtual machine. Occasionally we can get it to start but
most of the time the start hangs in the Windows 2003 Server initial
start screen, and the serial console shows mmio failures similar to the
one mentioned above in item number 5.

Let me know if you need any more information to help solve this problem.

Also, do you have any idea when you will be officially supporting smp
windows?

Thanks,

windowsenterprise edition fails with NTLDR is missing

We have just completed a round of testing and everything in this area
seems to be working correctly. Can you give us some more information:
1. What version of "32-bit windows enterprise edition" are you using?
All of our "enterprise edition" testing is done with Windows Server 2003
R2 with SP2.
2. What version of xen/kernel-xen are you using?
3. What is the OS version of domain-0?
4. What is the arch of dom0? the hypervisor?
5. How far does the install get before you see that error? Is it seen
immediately as you start the VM install, or does part of the install
work and then you see this problem?
6. Are you installing using Virtual Machine Manager (virt-manager), the
Create Virtual Machines utility (vm-install), or by some other method?
7. What are you using as your disk? (e.g. sparse file, SAN, partition,
LVM, etc.)

Thanks.

Jason
